I agree with you. It's the same with accomodation my first choice is location, location, location not bedspreads, tiles and nice bathrooms. I like clean but have been known to clean when I get there. I splash out and eat at a few nice places but I also eat at the warungs. I spent 2 years in Europe in the late 60's and lived on fresh air so from then travel was always about the experience and I always planned the next trip before I got back from the last. My best holidays have been spent in a tent and then I graduated to a caravan but I still prefer to sit, cook & eat outside. Give me 2 or 3 holidays in 3* rather than 1 in 5*.
