Some of the tax is courtesy of the Australian govt, the rest are fees/levies/surcharges charged by the airline towards the cost of use of the airport, landing, maintenance, fuel & security costs. The airline's fees & levies might be negotiable to a certain extent perhaps, & the travel agent can forfeit some of their 'slice of the pie' to get your business. Don't worry - they would never sell you a ticket if they weren't still making a profit on it, that's for sure!!
