I usually ask for 1 with chilli like the locals eat for Brian of the cast Iron gut and one with a little less for me, still pretty spicy though. My favourite is the bakso man at the front of Zanzibar restaurant on "Blue Ocean Beach". I like the Bakso Campur while Brian favours the Bakso only. Near the Bakso Man but on the beach can be found Ibu Putu cooking her Mie Telur in the shade of the big tree. What a great lunch eaten with a Bintang from Suni and Jaya under our beach umbrella with the sea breeze blowing in.

I have never got sick from the places you think you may!!! Once from a hotel in Lovina years ago I had a very bad couple of nights!! Also a couple of little episodes when I haven't eaten anywhere untouristy at all!! Sometimes I think they over estimate the keeping times in a fridge, not having one at home.

Oh God now look what you've done! My Indonesian music is playing and now I want to be sitting on the kerb with a bowl of Bakso (or whatever really) in my lap, the smell of kretek cigarettes wafting on the breeze and the sound of Bahasa Indonesia all around........
