Three weeks ago I booked a trip to Bali from Sydney for just over $800 and thought that was dear compared to recent trips. But the flight component was only $598 which is so cheap! In the past whenever I got $599 I was stoked, its just that now the taxes are so much higher.
Looking back to what I paid for a flight the first time I went in 2001, $598 in 2005 is fantastic.
10 days in Bali in March 2006 (accommodation, breakfast, transfers, flights, taxes) for a little bit over $1000 - its still a real bargain to me.
