not like we would in Bali ofcourse, but we contribute thru the family to the temple & banjar. So in a way he feels that his family prays in lieu of us at the temple & we buried the belly button of Indah in the garden, he & Maddison prayed & would feed Indah's twin (as such), placing incense & little treats at the place her belly button was buried.
Usually they bury the placenta, but I had wanted to donate the cord blood, so we discussed it with Mum in Bali & she sgreed with us that it was important to donate the cord blood & maybe save a sick child & that it was fine to bury the belly button as it dropped off!
Mum even wondered why they dont do similar in Bali.... hee hee!
Unfortunately all the Balinese that I know in Melbourne dont go to the Indonesian Consulate for Galungan or Kuningan etc, as the Consulate refuses to serve pork, but Babi Guling is such a huge part of Balinese ceremonies. So the Balinese we know all get together & make their own babi guling & we usually all get together for that...
I am sure though one of the first things we will do when we get back in August is visit the temple....
*I was hoping one of my other sisters would look after Mum & Dad... hee hee.... I always tell them I'm doing my bit now, they can have them when their back in nappies!!!
Hubby has put the black & white cloth around the base of a big tree in front garden, Mum & Dad asked why & he explained that the ghosts & evil spirits would need a house to live in too & therefore leave us all alone. Mum & Dad now say "hello" to the ghosts & will sometimes have a chat to them!?
