hi fisho girl
it was 150,000 (didn't try to negotiate so maybe you can get it for less??). starts at 9am with a saunter up to markets to discuss the different spices and foods they use - no shopping allowed!) and back to restaurant by 10.00 to start cooking. you can just arrive at 10.00 if you don't want to do the market visit. we cooked 6 different recipes (all the ingredients were pre chopped etc), with Ketut doing most of the work and us mainly watching, little bit of preparation and lots of eating! started with basa gede (basic spice paste) then sayur urab (vegetable dish), tuna sambal matah (with a raw sauce), tempe manis (deep fried tempe)opor ayam (curry chicken) and bali sate lilit. all these come from the cookbook (written in 1991 by Chrissy Stokes, Academic Semester Abroad (what a lovely way to study). then sambal goreng udung (prawns) which was Ketut's mother's recipe with his own modifications. also gave us a serve of black rice pudding to eat and a drink. Ketut's give lots of other bits of info that are not included in the recipe book so be ready to scribble down notes! they also offer a vegetarian version plus a second day class which does further recipes. I think we finished about 1pm or maybe later...wasn't really conscious of clock time while i was in Bali
