You sound like a nice guy and I hope all goes well for you and Ketut and her daughter.

My son met a Balinese girl several years ago and went to and fro to see her whenever possible. They married in Bali in a Hindu ceremony [Ron was not required to formally become Hindu].

They have bought a house not far from Seminyak. They have one son. Neither of them want to live anywhere but Bali.

It's not easy for non-Indonesians to work in Bali unless you have a wanted trade or profession which cannot easily be filled from the local workforce [who of course work for local wages]. Going into business is a possibility, but needs to be thought out very carefully. Ron comes to Perth 2 or 3 times a year for a few weeks and does contract work. After you've bought your house, car, motorbike etc, living costs are cheap, especially if you have a local lady who knows where to shop.

I live in Waikiki. If you would like any info on things like buying a house in Bali at the right price and making sure that the paperwork is in order, or other aspects of marriage etc, you are welcome to email me.
