a search through the archives reveals much discussion about Bushmans regarding the concentration of DEET (what ever that is!). It's got something to do with the effective time of the stuff. Apparently your run-of-the-mill repellant is effective for up to 2 and a half hours with 25% DEET but Bushmans is effective for 8 hrs with an 80% concentration.
BUT there is much debate as to the safety of applying this chemical which I read is a neurotoxin and has the chance of getting to toxic levels with much application.
There is also some argument as to whether this stuff is actually banned here (I don't know coz I haven't started shopping around for it as yet). There are suggestions that lotions containing DEET are available in Indo but banned here and so will be confiscated by customs upon return.
There are several other repellants recommended in the archives that are available in Indo such as "OFF" which I have used before and got no mozzie bites, and "Autan".
I suggest a search through the archives to familiarise oneself with the issues because yet again this looks like an issue which comes down to personal decision as to what chemicals you are prepared to apply. Some folks have hyper-sensitivity to certain preparations and there is debate as to whether these stronger applications should be withheld from children as well.
