Safety on Perama

Yes you do get a little wet at times, depends on the swell. We have done the crossing ten times, with children and never been scared. My husband is a fisherman and reckons that the outriggers are the safest boats around and virtually can't sink. I always sit up the front where the lifejackets are, just in case. Also if you are a surfer then you have the benefit of a surfboards if the boat does go down. We put our Passports etc into a waterproof bag.

The other thing is that it is a pretty busy strait with lots of fisherman in small boats, so I don't think it would take too long to be found.

We have travelled on the fast cat and THAT was a scary experience. People being sick all over the place and the boat nose diving into the waves. Certainly wouldn't adnise taking that one.
