When visiting any orphanage you should make an appointment to see them. The children have classes 6 days a week and most of the carers do not like them to be interrupted. It depends on what you want from your visit as to which orphanage you go to. They all welcome donations but some will not allow you to spend too much time with the children and others will put on a little show for you. 2nd hand clothing is one thing that I would not recommend taking. Alot of them have excess clothing stacked high and it is not getting used - clothing is best given to the ladies/gents/kids on the beach and in the markets. Money is the one thing that they all seem to lack and new underwear. Last time we also took a heap of fresh fruit and veg, rice (of course) and indonesian 2 min noodles. If you visit the website for Carry for Kids they have a list of orphanages and what things they need. They can also arrange your visit and tell you how many children and ages etc. I hope that helps a bit.
