Laura, I brought someone home with me end of November, he was indonesian, not balinese, but based in Bali. The only letter I needed was one from me, wherein I stated I would be responsible for all food, accommodation etc, I sponsored him for one month. I also agree, make sure you get travel insurance, we did not need it, but it is important. He is a national boxing champion and does not have an employer as such, but maybe because I was at the Consulate with him, we had no problems. I made temp. airline booking but did not pay for ticket until I had visa. In four days, I had visa,ticket the lot.Make sure you have all the paperwork required, the i.d. and family id, that is very important. Incidentally the happy ending, he lasted five days and wanted to go back!!!
