Lots of places have these "hygene" certificates. The certificates were produced by an Australian company to restaurants who paid for a basic course in hygene. Everyone passes if you pay the money for the course. There is no requirement that you have follow up training, so once you have paid for the certificate, you can display the sign. Not all places with certificates are clean. A VERY POPULAR place on Legian Road has a certificate proudly displayed out the front, but the staff have quite basic food and drink handling practices. EG. The fruit cocktails are prepared by hand by staff who don't wash their hands after handling money and wiping their noses. The blender that is used to make the cocktials is washed with tap water and not dried before for the next drink.
