Garuda has been in financial trouble for a long time.. I have read many articles that state that Garuda is in financial difficulty and has been unable to repay loans to Mandira Bank. I heard but cannot verify that the Indonesian Govt has been assisting Garuda. I am not sure that I would book or travel with Garuda again but this was more to do with the standard of the aircraft ... Garuda Orient however were absolutely wonderful and the staff on the aircraft I travelled on were also wonderful.
