I was speaking earlier this morning with Gusti, my Bali Operations Manager, who told me how overwhelmed the Balinese are in general, with the amazing support the Island has received from Australians, particularly those who have made special trips to Bali over the Christmas period, to bring with them gifts, money, but more importantly to the Schools, Orphanages and poorer Balinese communities, the knowledge that there are SO MANY (naturally not only from Australia but as he was speaking with me here, his reference was to Australians)who are prepared to go to extraordinary lengths to assist those less fortunate than themselves.
He made special mention of the Helen Flavel Foundation which, through the personal efforts of Helen and her supporters, is gaining a high profile and level of respect in Bali.
I exlained to Gusti that this Forum has been, in no small way, a driving force in establishing links for those who want to assist the Balinese but who would otherwise not know from where to begin.
He has asked me to convey, through this Forum, the genuine thanks and sincere appreciation the Balinese have for everyone who has assisted in so many ways, and to wish everyone a Happy New Year.
