What a wonderful story. Even the smallest thing is appreciated. I am always amazed at how happy the Balinese are, regardless of their circumstances. My Balinese friends took me to an orphanage near Klungklung, Dharma Jati 11, and I couldn't believe how happy the children were, singing when we arrived and singing again when we left. I know it was for my benefit but they were still happy among themselves. It was certainly a shock to see how they lived, where they cooked and the old bedroom furniture. I was so pleased that I had been able to help in some small part. Friends had given me lots of books (handy as they are trying to build a library) and clothing.
I believe there were around 120 children ( I only met around 40) with one supervisor. The older girls all help out with the younger ones and also do the cooking. I am still amazed at their outlook.
Once again my friends have been asked to help out for my next trip at the end of jan. I may see you at the Cat & Fiddle. I hope you have a great 2006. Cheers, Stormy
