I have only ever washed my two girls' hair on a Friday night. This then means that by the time they go back to school on Monday their hair is a little dirty. Headlice like clean hair. When there is an outbreak of headlice at the school I put some tea tree oil in a spray bottle of water. Headlice do not like tea tree oil and are deterred by it. I also add a little lavender as this helps to cover the smell of the tea tree oil for the human nose. Of both my two girls, only one has had headlice and this was when staying with her grandparents, they washed her hair and then took her shopping. Obviously they unfortunately came in contact with someone that had headlice at the time.
My sister has also lived by this method for many years with her two daughters and they also have not had headlice. I have also suggested it to others who have had problems with headlice and since they have done these things they no longer have trouble either.
Hope this helps
Cheers
