.. Sanur Paradise Plaza hotel open-air bathrooms. SPP Was our first (and my kids very favorite) hotel on our recent Bali trip. I had seen photos of the open-air bathrooms and thought they looked wonderful - we were booked into a Standard room, but I thought I'd try to upgrade to the (Deluxe? can't remember) room on arrival if we could get a good price, so we could enjoy the bathrooms. Well, when we arrived and I got to see the actual open-air bathroom, it was not at all as romantic-looking as I had expected! The fact that the toilet was outside as well really put me off - I was especially concerned about mosquitoes, cockroaches and other critters, plus the heat outdoors (imagine those times when you might have to spend a long time on the toilet - Bali Belly for instance?). We chose to stay in the Standard Room we had already booked, and were quite happy (and paid US$20 less). But I did always wonder what it was really like to use those bathrooms - so your comments were of great interest to me, and I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the experience. Still and all, I personally would choose an indoor bathroom in Bali, having not seen a single open-air one (and I saw a few) that I felt totally sure I would be comfortable using at any time of day or night. (And this from me, who before my trip was probably more excited about the idea of an open-air bath than any other aspect of our upcoming trip!)
