I took my son's PS2 with us in Nov, we went to the H elgies shop to get it done on advise from this forum. We were told by them they could not guarentee it would work because it was a new slim line type and very small components inside unit, so we brought it back to Oz and had it done locally. It cost us $150 here. My son bought about 50 games while in Bali and only 2 didn't work.
It may be cheaper to get it done over there but if something goes wrong it may cost you a new playstation.
