which is no problem since they are on standby at a small cafe out of Bali Ayu and turn left. I'd ask them to drop you at the intersection of Melasti and Legian sts. and keep walking towards Kuta. Plenty of surf shops. I don't know how old your girls are but a simple one stop surf shop with all the brands is "Surfer Girl" on Legian St. not far from Poppies Lane. I don't know how the prices are but last time I was there in November I got a Roxy backpack and handbag considerably cheaper than I see them in Perth. If you go directly there don't be surprised when you go around the block in the taxi, it's just the one way system.
For boutique shopping Seminyak is good. Ask the taxi to drop you at Bintang Supermarket 5-10 minutes and start wamdering. Also opposite Bintang supermarket is a really good money changer. Well opposite and down a bit next to an Italian restaurant. It looks like a bank and the rates are always good and it's an honest operation.
Have a great time.
