We always give them a few gold australia coins that we have left over from the cab fare to the airport. It's usually impossible to change coins in foreign countries, but the system they have in place to recycle old coins is fantastic and they don't do too badly out of it. Of course, rp would be the way to go if you had small enough change but it's unlikely most people will have this.
