The official rate used to be posted just above the luggage carousel. Anout a year ago it used to be listed as 1500 rupiah per bag. Only problem was some of the porters were overly aggressive, would grab your bags whether you wanted help or not and would demand outrageously high payments per bag over and above the published rates. It was a major culture shock to those new to the island and unsure of how to say no in what was often a confrontational situation, or, at least, appeared to be one.They also have to earn a living and deserve a little more if they do a good job for you but don'r let them intimidate you and, perhaps more importantly, don't let them rip you off either.
