We had the same experience when we stayed in the wooden room in November. However, they assured us that they were going to replace the air conditioner with a move powerful system and moving it to a more effective position.
While we did not inspect the new delux rooms (they were full, as usual), I'm pretty sure that you would have to pass by reception. The path to the rooms is to the left of the swimming pool, up from the wooden room. Hope this helps.
