Editorial
Merry Christmas to all our Readers and Advertisers.
May it be a peaceful and joyous occasion for us all.
This year's Christmas and New Year's period looks set to be busy, maybe not as busy as some in the past, but there surely will be a lot of people around. There are loads of events organized to keep you entertained and it's sure to be a fun time for one and all.
There's no denying that security is the big issue this year, and we expect all venues to be tightly controlled when the masses arrive. We don't want to harp on about it, but we're sure everyone knows that the sight of security staff, metal detectors and brief delays is well worth the trouble if it helps to keep the place out of harm's way. Unfortunately, in this day and age, it wouldn't matter where you were in the world at this time of year, because it would basically be the same wherever you went. Some people, especially Europeans, have been living with these kinds of threats for many years and I suppose we will have to learn to take it in our stride, as well.
The people of Bali will not bow down to terrorism.
According to the authorities there will be 6000 police and even 15 boats offshore protecting the streets and waters of south Bali this season. Even with all this extra attention we will all have to keep vigilant and at all times aware.
OK, on to the other stuff. This week you'll find The Beat Awards 2005 voting page just after the Fun Pics. Please fill the form in and send it to us as soon as possible by fax, sms or hand delivery. The cut-off point is Christmas Eve so be quick and be in the running to win some great prizes.
We hope you enjoy this edition of The Beat, it's another bumper load of info and good times. Happy Holidays friends! Ed.
