I had quite a bit of trouble getting it done. Obviously because it's a newer model?

As time progressed (we got it last Christmas and had it chipped mid-year) there were more people willing /able to do it.

So maybe some of the 'chippers' in Bali haven't caught up yet...

Having said that, it works well. You need to be careful about who you buy your games from, and what discs they are 'burned' onto... apparently a big problem with these things is that once they are chipped, the laser has to work harder to read the copied discs.( especially if they have used cheap discs to write onto) and therefore the laser overheats and can burn out.
Most of the time with ours, when it plays up, the picture just freezes, and you need to turn it off and let it cool down before you can start again.)

We have bought games here (trading post) and in Bali. Generally the Bali ones work better than the local ones! Ie, local ones make the deck heat up and eventaully freeze, none of the Bali games have that effect.
