We were in Bali for 2 months recently, and my 9-year old daughter wrote in her journal all of 3 or 4 times :( - she's usually such an imaginative story writer/teller, but for some reason she found writing down REAL events of the day near impossible and I finally gave up nagging her about it (I don't suppose your mum and dad nag YOU about it? Nah...). Having a 4 year old brother bothering her 24/7 didn't help, I must admit. And too, we were always out all day and usually got back to the hotel after bedtime, so there just didn't seem to be much time to write. But now, 4 weeks later, the memories of our trip are growing hazy and it would have been so nice to have kept a journal going so we wouldn't forget ANYTHING about our wonderful holiday.
Have a great time, and please do keep us updated on your Bali escapades - then I can show your writing off to my daughter, who might even become inspired enough to pick up her pen and write some more about her trip before it's too late and forgotten.
P.S. Do you speak any Balinese yet? As soon as my kids learned a few Balinese words and phrases, they really started to enjoy their stay a lot more and even back home now they still enjoy 'talking Balinese' to each other...
