when I ask several times if this is a timeshare thing and it gets denied right up to the spiel at the hotel. I went as far as attending the pre-spiel interview at the luxury resort with meal promised. I was happy to tell the spieler that I was in no position to take up an offer (albeit generous and sensible lol). He asked how often we take holidays to various locales and I reported accurately that this was our first holiday in twenty years, that we rarely have holidays rostered together due to our shift work and that I couldn't see another holiday opportunity in the coming year or two.

He just said "Well I don't think this would suit you at all and I don't want to waste any more of your precious holiday time". With that he organised a taxi back to our hotel and that was that. Mind you the reception staff who had been oh so welcoming suddenly developed sour demeanours.

At least he was up-front and honest about it but we had been hoodwinked right up to that point. I expected something suss but I wanted to know what happened when one actually goes along with these offers. I consider it a valuable learning experience as well as a quick tour through the dark side :)

I'm sure that these offers a possibly a good idea for people that are suited to these sorts of arrangements, just not for me.
