we recently visited our sponsor child and her school and we took a large box of things both for the students and the teachers.
We took up a couple of small whiteboards and heaps of whiteboard pens, several posters with times tables charts and basic addition charts, large alphabet charts (all very colourful), I also got someone I know to translate some basic words for me and I made up and laminated letters of the alphabet with a picture of something and a words starting with each letter. We also took writing pencils and coloured pencils and sharpeners with exercise books and some craft paint brushes, glue sticks and gerneral stationary like sticky tape, paper clips, bulldog clips, elastic bands etc.
All of this was greatly appreciated and we could see that everything would be put to good use - they have very very limited resources and supplies.
We took a small gift for each child - boys got a tazo disk which we showed them how to play and the girls each got two hair lackies, two hair clips and a length of hair ribbon, and them we had about 20 rubber bounchy balls and some tennis balls which we threw out randomly and they all shared them with no problems about who actually caught them.
We had a fantastic day and our two boys tell everyone that was the best day they had in Bali - Waterbomb park comes in second!
I'm sure whatever yu decide to take will be well recieved. Have a great time - the kids (and teachers) are fantastic.
