I remember you very well. Who could mistake that M.... style? ;)
Yes and I remember our conversation about your son and as you will recall my wife has MS and is in a wheelchair, so I can relate to Holladaze's comments. I guess I was wondering whether you were saying that people with disabilities couldn't really appreciate Bali, but as you say Holladaze has answered that well.
My wife has just returned from another trip to Bali with her sisters (they bargain in packs!). They too found that getting the wheelie out in the road was the best way in Tuban. One in the front leading the way at a trot, one behind acting as a buffer, and the third in the middle pushing like mad! They said the Balinese people were absolutely terrific and gave them tremendous help and consideration, including the taxi drivers.
They stayed at the Kartika Plaza which also has very good facilities for the disabled. The only real problem they encountered was with a ramp near the shopping complex that was so steep that the wheelchair took off at a terrifying rate with one of the sisters hanging on behind for grim life. They made it without mishap, but it apparently caused a lot of laughter amongst the Balinese onlookers.
My wife wrote some notes for wheelies on a previous trip for anyone who is interested. The link is below. We'd love to hear other people's experiences and advice to add to the list.
