The public ferry goes from padangbai to Lombok and you will need to catch another ferry (boat) to the Gilis. Cost for all is about 350K Rupia and will take the best part of a whole day each way. The quickest option is to fly from Bali to Mataram (approx 618K Rupia return) and then catch a taxi / bus to either Bangsal or Teluk Kode and catch a boat out to the Gilis. (add another 100K rupia for this).
