Sorry to say i didn't see any flutes at all. Definitely none at Supernova.

Strangely, the sports shop at Matahari's (It's up the elevator, near the shoes, and looks like it's a department of Matahari's, but apparently it's a seperate business...)in Kuta also sold guitars, and i thibk they had a number of other instruments there also (harmonicas, etc). Didn't look for flutes. but it might be a place to try. Good luck!

I also seem to remember some months ago, othr people have posted about a specific music shop... you might want to try doing a search and see what comes up.

As far as the frustration goes, I think my beautiful wife is a bit more prone to it; I tend to look for other ways around the problem. We are, after all, visitors to THEIR country, and shouldn't expect them to do things the way we are used to...
