Bali Budaya Cycling Tour from Penelokan to Ubud (all downhill). This includes breakfast on the caldera overlooking volcanoes and lake - SPECTACULAR view!; Cycling along quiet roads through villages and rice paddies; Frequent stops at a plantation, cane weaving village, family compound and others with educational talks re Bali life; A DELICIOUS Balinese feast in a quiet spot overlooking rice paddies; Then finally a visit to the Ubud monkey forest.
Bali Hai 3 Island Ocean Rafting. This includes views of the spectacular Nusa Penida coastline; You usually catch up with a dolphin pod; Snorkelling in a private spot; A small but delicious lunch on board (MUST try a mangosteen if available); Visit a seaweed farming village (mmm?);More snorkelling and some time at Nusa Lembongan Beach (very pretty, and can banana boat here); Finally a FAST trip home that is alot of fun.
White Water Rafting on the Telaga Waja River. We went with Bali INTERNATIONAL Rafting and could not fault them. There are 300 steps to climb at the end, so stop occassionally and stretch those thigh muscles and you'll be fine. The fun and jungle scenery are definitely worth it.
Of course Waterbom Park is always impressive the first couple of times around. Its a nice reprieve from the madness of Kuta.
Go and see a Kecak dance. I finally saw one after 7 trips and kicked myself for not making the effort sooner. Its VERY mesmerizing and definitely the most interesting. We saw it up at Ubud in a large open area with a fire in the middle - I cannot imangine it having any affect any other way. One is performed at Uluwatu Temple (another speccy spot)at dusk. Good place to watch the sunset as well.
Then lastly but by no means least - TALK to the people. Ask them their names, where they are from etc. They love talking to anyone to help pass the time of day. Some of my fondest memories are of the people I have met there.
