In the past we took the 4 nights icluded in a package & looked around for a house, as opposed to a hotel, to stay in. I guess this depends on how much you like being in a hotel setting. Houses have usually very well equipped kitchens if you like to self-cater sometimes and with the well-stocked supermarkets this is handy for brekky and snacks. Also usually houses/villas have a maid (who might do your cooking, but will certainly do your laundry etc), are in a secure compound, and are cheaper than hotels. Just wander around, and keep your eyes open for signs pointing to Villa or House to Rent. Down around Seminyak in the back streets there are some oh so beautiful houses owned by Europeans. Just a suggestion.
