SHOPPING; Everyones favouite past time. Look we went to the usual eg legian markets and kuta markets. Paid 25000 - 30000 for t'shirs deending on quality and this was anywhere in street stalls or shops. Boardies paid between 30000-40000. Volcom shorts paid 50000 in poppies 2 right down the end on left hand side past koris.
Went to bali stone and bought a beautiful stand and bowl and wall plaque as well as two statues. Spoke to leo who was fantastic and very easy to buy and send home he takes care of everything.
A little secret to do send home unaccompying luggage. A balience friend of ours gave us a small garden statue (20kg) i thought i would do the right thing and put through cargo on our flight home so we would not get caught with excess and we already had that much stuff it was one less thing i had to worry about. I also sent 2 long masks and 2 three tiered umbrellas as well. Well it cost 260us to do it this way. I thought when we arrived in brisbane it would come up with the surfboards, of course that would be too easy. I have since learnt that anything unaccom. is considered freight and had to be sent to a freight co. Air paradise staff in brisbane were very good and felt sorry for me that i had no idea what i was doing. Anyway we had to go through a customs agent who declared and quarantined the goods for us and arranged delivery to nsw. Another 260 aus dollars this was a very expensive gift and lesson but as my husband said thats bali for you.
My point of view the best shopping is up rum jungle road turn right in jln legian then along to jln melasti with jln padma in the middle.
Doulbe 66 is also quite good for something a little different my 17 daughter particularly liked the tops in these shops.
This time we went to nusa lembongan for 2 days i night stayed in a villa next to coconuts resort. It was beautiful and very quiet. I wished i knew about the clothes shops over the hill that was mentioned earlier. Great surf for hubby and boys they especially enjoyed playgrounds. Youngest 13 boy hassled his father to hire scooter, so after much annoying we relented, and of course he never listens goes around a bend too fast smashes in to the back of another bike husband comes behind him he thankfully can stop in time but 16 year crashes and comes off muffler nearly burning his leg. Balinese come from everywhere. The only thing i will say about this whole episode is they were very lucky that my husband had plenty of money on him at the time.
Then the next day they fell on the reef and cut their legs.
I will finish on this note, we were there at the time of the bombing it was a very eryie(spelling) feeling. We were being harrased by family at home to come home, we decided to stay and had a great time, however we were careful and did only go to kuta once in the night for dinner after the bombing. The balinese are hurting and it was very quiet in the last week we were there. I am not sure when we will go again but thanks to all of you on this site we can always feel that a little bit of us will be there.
