Get a driver for the day/evening and see a few sights. Plan it so that you are at the Tanah (yep, one n -- sorry) Lot temple in the afternoon, then get the driver to take you to the cliffs, or figure out where the path is.
Some of the best views are from the golf course, so you may have to slip a few notes to a greenskeeper or just tresspass. Please rake any bunkers you make love in.
I've never gone straight from Kuta to Tanah Lot, so I don't really know how long it takes if you just want to dash there and back. Probably around an hour and a half, depending on how many cows are on the road.
