It's taken me a while to speak about this because it made me so bloody angry at the time. My sister and her daughter lost very close friends in the 2002 bombings. They could well have been there as it was a mothers & daughters trip, but my sis had just bought a new house & couldn't afford for her & daughter to go. Altho the others in the group had left for bed, being party animals sis and niece could well have been at Sari Club with their friends who died. So, I wanted to go to the remembrance area and take pics of their names on the wall for my sis & niece when I was there in September, as well as to pay my own respects. Something I wanted to do. But when we got there, there was a huge, noisy promotion for something or other all around and in it - very loud music blaring from minivans - females in skintight white outfits wearing alien helmets spraying water over people, leaping about barely on the edge of the remembrance area, turning what should be and IS a special place into a joke. Just imagine it!! Impossible to spend a few quiet moments reflecting there. Others were there laying wreaths with this horrendous, oh so tasteless and tacky advertising gimmick going on at full blast. I was soooo ANGRY. I hope & trust this never happens again. I regret not keeping the advertising stuff thrust at me as I would certainly tell everyone to stay away from any THING that seems to think that sort of method of promotion is effective - reverse effective I hope!!
