Travellers cheques tip

For those of us in Australia, I believe the Post Office sell travellers cheques with NO COMMISSION.
This wiol take out some of the expense.
We also plan to split our money and take about 1/2 cash and about 1/2 in TC's for peace of mind.
Anyone can confirm this? I'm pretty sure it's right.
