Hi colourdin,
Just a few things:
1. Take your sense of humour & leave all your anger & stress at home;
2. Slow down & stop to smell the roses as it were. Taking the time for a conversation with a local can lead to some great adventures;
3. A few words of Bahasa Indonesia are handy to break the ice. try these:
Terima kasih (tereema kasee) - thank you
Kembali (kembalee) - you're welcome
Tidak Mau (teedak mow [like cow]) - Don't want
Ya - yes
Tidak - no
Try to learn a new word each day, the staff at the hotel will be only too happy to help.
Hope this little bit helps
Mitch
