1. About 2.5 hours before is the norm. Checkin desks open about 3 hours before so up to you.
2. Ways to minimise risk of waiting? --
Nothing much you can do if other planes arrive at same time....but
Get seats closer to the front of the plane.
Be organised & have everything together before you land so you can move off the plane as soon as you are allowed.
Minimize hand luggage (no need to use overhead storage) so you don't have to fiddle around with bags/kids/junk on arrival.
Make sure all the forms are filled in properly & VOA cash is ready.
3. VOA payment...in my opinion it makes no difference. Just hand over the total amount for the 5 of you.
