We what did I do for the rest of the holiday? Well, lots of shopping, and almost finished the Christmas shopping! I only made a couple of mistakes, buying T-shirts for one which should have been polo shirts, but I have already found someone else to give those to. I am very happy with what I bought and generally bought at about one third to a quarter of what I would pay in Australia.
Also I ate out, of course. Where? Well Indo National (twice) and LOVE those mango dacquiries. Also, Kori, on the night of the memorial service 12/10.Security was very tight, and had my bag very thoroughly searched. I am very happy for that to take place, and the guard was most apologetic. Also had breakfast has Ku De Ta, where they had afr more security guards and staff on in the morning than they had customers. Whilst expensive by Bali standards, a yummy breakfast for $A10, which included a delicious plate of mixed tropical fruit, plus cooked breakfast was just what I needed on my last day. Also ate at Johnny(?) on the last night. Would have been great but I had to catch a taxi to get to the airport. Overall, food was generally good and very reasonable pirced.
I did not go to the memorial service in the morning, but did walk down there early evening, when there was a Hindu ceremony on. Planty of Balinese and others, and a weird atmosphere. The whole area was cordoned off for about 500 metres all round, with no traffic allowed on Legian st for about one kilometre. All entrances had a metal detector gate, like at the airport, and bag searching. However, I couldn't feel comfortable or safe, so has some private thpought for those involved and their loved ones and headed off.
Will I go back? Yes I hope so. I generally avoided the the busy areas, and did not spend a lot of time in department stores or shopping centres. But I felt that when your time is up, it is up. However, I think my kids were pleased to see me, and seem to have been more helpful since I got home!! To those who included me as a single in their dinner groups and drinks around the pool, thankyou. To the Balinese, thankyou. This island is addictive, and I have to say, that I think I am Bali dependent. I'm not sure there is a cure.... ??Bali Anonymous??
That's it folks!
