Hi trixie we just got back on Tuesday after spending 10 days in Bali. You can read my post which I put up on Wednesday "Definately Go". The hotel was only at 40% capacity, security was everywhere, electronic scanners placed over your body and bags were being checked at major places like Matahari's and Discovery Mall along with restaurants. We stayed at Jayakarta and security was beefed up.
The streets were quiet - I may have passed 10 or so tourists on my walk from Legian to Kuta Square. Still had a fabulous time shopping and enjoying everything I love about Bali. I ran into many aussies at the hotel and other places I visited and they too were eager to enter into a conversation with us. I'm sure you too will meet people once you are there. Have a great time.
