I found it the opposite to your daughter. I found that the night times were rather quiet. Walking down the main street of Legain there is not many people around and Kuta is just as quiet. The restaurants are quiet, clubs are quiet, everywhere was quiet. On many occassions we were the only ones in the restaurant or there would be only another 2 tables. Personally, thats the way I liked it.
Mind you, Bali probably came alive while I was asleep.
