I must say the beaches are nicer than Bali's and the scenery in both thailand and Vietnam is gorgeous but there is just something about Bali that draws me back year after year. If you get to Thailand you must go to a place just outside of Kanchanaburi (the bridge on the river Kwai) it is run by Buddhist monks and they take in abandoned tiger cubs and raise them. The fully grown tigers are led into an open area and you can walk up to them and pat them, it is amazing...just don't turn your back on them or make any sudden moves!!!!
