Freo is a really good place to eat, drink and generally run a muck, little creatures is a great pub/brewery that serves some excellent food, harbourside is a pretty good club too.
Amplifier bar on murray street is a great place to go to and have live bands playing all the time, it is a little small though and can sometimes get really crowded depending on which band is playing and it is only a $10 taxi ride to northbridge.
Mustang bar, black bettys and paramount are clubs that i would prob reccomend in northbridge. Hope this helps.
