Hi Angie
It depends just what you wish to sponsor.
I am involved in a number of projects in Bali. The main one that quite a number of forumites are in is the Bali Schoolkids Project. As of yesterday, there are 349 children currently supported. You will see from the website below just what they receive. All sponsorships are fully tax deductible in Australia, and not one cent goes in Administration or Management.
We are also part of a Cleft Lip and Palate project which performs between 100 & 150 operations each year.
There is also a Dental Project south of Amed bringing dental health & hygiene to the students of 8 schools. The initial cost was expected to be about $500 per year when we were first looking at only 3 schools but we wanted to cover the whole area and this is blowing the budget out to just over $2000 per year and we are now looking for assistance. Once again, this is tax deductible.
In the same area we have promised to provide clean water to at least one school per year. So far we have done two and several forum groups have already provided the money for a third. Each one varies from between $1000 up to $3500.
There is also another tremendous group in Yayasan Kemanusiaan Ibu Pertiwi, better known as YKIP. Our mission is to improve the lives of everyone living in Bali as a tribute to those killed or injured as a consequence of the Oct 02 bombing. Please visit the website at www.ykip.org
Please feel free to contact me if I can give answers to any additional questions you may have.
Cheers
Noel Allen
