Many people recommend taking rasberry cordial. A few years back (1995) I got bali belly and on our return the Dr recomended Cordial (cottees.) Last time I went in May this year I heard that Rasberry cordial was effective. In fact I beleive some research is going on into it use as a treatment for food poisoning and other tummy upsets. We took the coridal this time and I was mainly concerned for my 5 year old as it is easy to monitor your water intake but not so easy sometimes to monitor kids. I am sure I got a lot of info from this site. It is recommended that you use the real rasberry codial (with at least 25% real rasberry juice I think) I got some from Coles. (Couldnt find it at Wollworths/safeway) We took a bottle and I would carry a diluted bottle of cordial with us and we would just sip it during the day and had no problems. We also bought large 6 lt containers of water from the shops and they are very cheap and easy to find. We used this for everything like brushing teeth, rinsing glasses etc. The ice in the hotels and restaurants is now bought in and pretty safe. I think the time in 1995 when we got the bali belly we got it when we went rafting and from either the dirty river water or from the restaurant where were ate. A few of the group we were with had problems but very minor. The kids had queasy tummies for a day or so but I think it was more related to diet than the water. (Lots of fried food) If is was the beginings of Bali belliy we passed around the cordial and they were right as rain the next day.
