the second time around, so I can't say - you'll have to email him. I saw a billboard in Legian advertising a Bali owned and operated bike tour and I wondered if that was his. The Balinese are all too aware of the power of 'word of mouth', so they will just about bend over backwards to make things right for you. Considering he worked for a company with a great reputation, he would also know what makes a good tour. So I'd be surprised if the bikes were not up to scratch. The thing I loved about him was his obvious gentleness and pride of the Bali Hindu culture. I couldn't imagine him telling you anything but the truth when you contact him.
I suggest getting details of the trip from Wayan, then compare them to the notice boards around Ubud. You don't need to give alot of notice - we booked at 3pm for the next day. Not even a phone call was made to see if they could fit us in!
The guides we had in Sept were also EXCELLENT - Darma and Agus. Darma has been with the company since the beginning 5 yrs ago, and was so honored to get really positive feedback from me - I told him my friend said "it was his best day in Bali" (even better than WWR down the Telaga Waja River).
