Well after much discussion over the bali bombing and lots of reassurance to family members that we will be okay we climb aboard the air paridise plane. Food is served all the time and unlimited drinks were given, Hubby made short work of the bintang. Arriving at airport, paid visa with australian dollars and after about an hour got through customs, ducked a few porters and headed off to the Kuta Beach Club. Had dinner in the hotel and a swim and off to bed.
Day 2: Breakfast was supplied for each morning and consisted of various egg dishes, bacon, sausages, fruit, rice and noodles and coffee and toast. All very nice. After breakfast we headed off to Centro, which was very pricey, then called into jennys in Kartika Plaza, for some fixed price Billabong t-shirts for 35,ooo each. Then in to Bubba Gumps for a drink and a couple more in the pool bar at Hotel. Decided this was too good so stayed at bar and ordered lucnh, before heading to Makro to stock up on beer, coke and water. Very cheap. Picked up a sim card from matahari, worked well, and cost 500 rp for one text message, and you get about 50,000 rp worth of calls when you purchase a sim card for 70.000 rp. Reports on bali tv of more possible bombings in seminyak tommorow, very quiet everywhere but lots of security around.
Dinner and drinks at hotel before bed.
Day 3:After breakfast went out looking for Dvd's and got 13 form Sukura with 3 free for 10,000rp each. Then went to Soft Comp and bought 50 dvd;s and got 20 free for 500,000 rp, guess we will be watching lots of tv when we get home. Back to hotel for drinks a swim and dinner in the hotel as it is a religous holiday today and some shops are closed.
Day 4: Woke up at 5 am and heard a noise outside. Still half asleep and thinks someone is yelling "get off the street" "get off the street", should I get out of bed and check, then realised its a bird outside, so funny. We are only 2 mins from the bomb site in Kuta Square and it is still playing on my mind.
Breakfast is delicious as always and the staff are wonderful.
Today is our planned shopping day at Legian, walked there from Kuta and found big Australia, closed for the day. Found Debbies, was great for ripcurl and billabong, bags, shorts and t-shirts. Had a delicious lunch at Indo National and bought more dvd's at soft comp and polished off the afternoon with a swim and drinks at the pool.
Went to The Oasis for dinner, reasonable meals and and cost us for 4 people including drinks 230,000 rp, then bought some sunglasses and handbags from the store holders, one more dip in the pool before bed.
Part 2 soon......jacky
