Earlier this year I contact over 50 hotels direct for prices, then got prices through Mida as well as Pur from Bali Joy based in ubud and Jamie from ER Tours in Bali plus a number of Australian Travel Agents. The local Balinese agents were effectively cheaper than the Australian Travel Agents as well as cheaper than booking with the hotel directly. However it would seem that each local agent had specific hotels they were able to get better deals at than others and as it turned out Mida was the best price for the hotels we wished to stay in however Pur and Jamie had better prices than Mida on other hotels so it is definitely worth enquiring with them. It also can be an issue for some people paying in cash on arrival or trasferring funds depending on who you deal through so that needs to be considered also. Good luck!!
