What airline are you flying with?
If it's Cathay Pacific and it's a "forced" overnight in HK then the airline provides the accomadation for free. But sometimes the travel agent doesn't tell you this unless you ask.

The Holiday Inn Hong Kong at 50 Nathan Rd is a nice hotel right in the heart of town. But you can actually be there in less then 30 min using the rapid train and free shuttle bus that takes you to your hotel from the train station in Kowloon. Do a Goggle search and you will find there website.....the rates are 1,000 Hk however (around $125). Hong Kong is expensive. The Park Hotel also in Kowloon (in Tsim Sha Tsui) will be cheaper and is not a bad place to stay. A google search will also come up with there site. There are almost zero hotels close to the airport except the very expensive Regal Airport Hotel. Also, with the rapid train it's much faster to get into Kowloon than to places that seem much closer.
