Ray passed away this morning
Any other time, I probably would not have posted this message, but As Dr. Ray played a big part after the 2002 bomb in Bali, it seems to mean a bit more to me with the 3rd. anniversary tomorrow.
We met Ray at Sanglah hospital in the days after the blast, a cute little old guy, with a Santa Claus beard. He was so genuinly warm and inspiring, it was impossible not to feel attracted to him.
Ray was a preacher, a counseller, a Doctor, a musician, and most of all, a wonderful humanitarian. As soon as he heard the news three years ago, he was on the first plane to Bali.
He spent most of his time either in the morgue, or in the wards with the most seriously ill, consoling them as they died. He also helped us immensly in the early days when AdoptA began.
Ray and his lovely wife Cheryl also ran many orphanages in Africa, (Genesis) he / they always seemed to be off somewhere to help someone. It's a shame, the world needs more people like him.
R.I.P. Ray, I'll miss you
